Theologically-Incorrect

This blog has been created to discuss various theological issues and as a forum to answer theological questions. Many theological/biblical questions people have come from incorrect information--hence the blog name. It is my aim to answer these questions according to Holy Scripture.

This Really Makes Me Mad

I am a Missouri-Synod Lutheran Pastor and I just received the other day a CD which was put outside the church door entitled "Give to your Pastor". I began listening to it and realized this was a CD put together to blast certain clergy in the community in which this "other church" did not agree. It was telling all who listened (primarily clergy) that we were leading people straight into hell because of our grace by faith theology! The problem with this theologically incorrect individual was the fact that he is in fact leading his sheep right into hell with his works-righteous comments! What say you?

If you were coming from a Christian perspective, you would understand the concept of grace and how important it is to the Christian faith. If people want to negate the gospel message by imposing works into God's plan of salvation through Jesus Christ, then they are simply put "theologically incorrect!" Thank you for your comment!

gon4good,

You are right. The limitless power and incomprehensable will of Almighty God is far too vast. That makes it impossible for us to figure out very much about Him. In fact, I know of no serious Christian who ever thinks that He knows very much about God at all!

We only know what God has told us about Himself. Thankfully, God has chosen to reveal Himself to mankind through is Word. This divine revelation to man clearly communicates His intentions and will for us.

According to His perfect will, God the Father sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to earth to walk among us and share with us God's truth. During this time, Christ performed powerful miracles in the presence of thousands of (often hostile) witneses which proved the power of His divinity. No one other than Christ has done these things and even His enemies, who wanted him dead, did not question the reality of what they saw Him do. It happened.

At the conclusion of His time on earth, Christ fulfilled His purpose for coming to earth. By death on the Cross, He took the place of the fallen race of humanity in order to atone for our sinful condition and grant us a divine pardon. The death of Christ made a way that all men might be saved.

The life of Christ has bridged the gap of seperation which you have so insighfully observed. Christ rose from the dead, defeating the power of death for all time. He now offers eternal life and salvation to all who believe. That eternal life is an unending communion with your Creator.

This gift of Faith, empowered by the Holy Spirit, which God offers to us is what makes a Christian so confident in what he knows. Faith destroys all mortal doubts and holds mankind close to the peaceful love of a just and merciful Creator. It is not a subscription to a man-made belief system, but a supernatural and divine link to the Creator of the entire Universe.

We do not pretend to speak for God as if we have it figured out. We only know these things because they are what God has told us by His Word. In Faith, we believe it.
